Three Employees Contaminated at Savannah River Site

By: Elizabeth Nelson

On Thursday, March 29, two workers at the Savannah River Site had radioactive material on their skin and another worker had some on his clothing. This information was released by Judy Spencer who is a spokeswoman for Westinghouse Savannah River Co. The company is ran for the Energy Department.

The three employees will be closely watched for health effects, even though the radioactive material is considered to be a low-level. The material was being removed from plutonium and other radioactive materials in the F-Canyon. It is unknown if these workers, or any others, inhaled or ingested any of the materials, but they are currently being observed.
