Dirty Laundry Interstate Nuclear Services in Columbia, South Carolina is in a bind now. The company, that washes radioactivity contaminated clothing, is having new restrictions and tighter laws enforced upon them. The state Department of Environmental Control has stated that they must comply, and Interstate Nuclear Services feels that the restrictions are expensive and will cause irreparable damage. "We think we're going to spend money we won't be able to get back, and in the end it will be lost money," stated Michael Fuller, one of the acting managers at the Springfield, Mass. based plant. He also stated they were "disappointed, but not surprised. DHEC believes the courts will back them up."The board disagreed and thinks the new conditions will be upheld in Circuit Court," stated DHEC spokeswoman. |
