Whistleblower
Says Plutonium Shipments are Unsafe August
16, 2002 Washington-
A House committee is reviewing claims from a Department of Energy whistleblower
that shipments of nuclear weapons and materials lack adequate security.
The
complaints are classified and the whistleblower's name has not been made public.
But the House Intellignence Committee sent a letter to the House Armed Services
Committee that said it was concerned about the seriousness of the complaints.
The
complaints have been made as shipments of six tons of weapons-grade plutonium
are under way from the Rocky Flats weapons site near Denver to the Savannah River
Processing plant.
